Dr. Rafael Rueda-Hernández, our postdoctoral researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, attended the Bird Migration Symposium last week. He gave a talk titled “Bird Genoscape Project Mexico: Where are We and Where are We Heading?” as part of his initiative to create an international branch of the BGP.

He also lead a workshop with colleagues from Birds.mx, an initiative to gather as many banders as possible to standardize field protocols throughout Mexico.
Rafa also made great connections with eight local banding stations that will be collecting samples for BGP this winter. Thank you, Dr. Rueda-Hernández, for being our ambassador in Mexico!
